Anthony Rizzo inspired Joc Pederson’s blonde hairstyle – NBC Chicago

How Rizzo’s Theory Inspired Pederson’s Blonde Hairstyle originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Anthony Rizzo’s bat ain’t the only thing Joc Pederson took from his former Cubs teammate in Atlanta.

Pederson, that the Bear cubs sent to the Braves before the trade deadline in July, detailed his World Series run with the Braves in a Players Tribune exhibit this week.

But beyond that, he reflected on a theory Rizzo had while they were teammates in Chicago.

“Believe me, good things happen when you go blonde,” recalls Pederson, telling Rizzo.

“I don’t know if he checked this out, or where it came from, but he always said it.”

Pederson got off to a slow start with the Braves and was back in Los Angeles in August for a series against the Dodgers, his 2014-20 club.

Recalling the theory, Pederson asked his family’s hairdresser to dye his hair blonde.

He hit a home run against Dodgers ace Walker Buehler the very next game.

“Rizzo texted me right after, delighted – like I was proving his theory, and we discovered a major breakthrough in science or something,” Pederson wrote. “And I’m not saying we did …

“But at the same time: it really just happened to be that kind of season, man.”

Pederson’s teammates had fun with his new hair, changing his music from walking to Eminem’s “The Real Slim Shady”.

It became part of her iconic look in October, paired with a Pearl necklace which has become popular in Atlanta.

Pederson was an outstanding performer in the playoffs, bringing Joctober to Atlanta. In 11 games, he beats .273 with a .545 slugging percentage.

He hit three home runs using one of Rizzo’s bats throughout the playoffs.

Maybe there is something to Rizzo’s theory after all.
