Despite the availability of more generous data plans and Wi-Fi cell towers, there will always be times when you find yourself in a blind spot on the internet. Maybe you’ve been hiking in the countryside or live in Montana? Whatever the reason, if you want to use Apple Music offline, you’ll need to download your music while you’re still connected to the internet. Here’s how to do it before your internet dies and you’re transported back to the Dark Ages.

To download Apple Music offline, navigate to the album you want to listen to offline and click the down arrow. You can also click the three-dot icon, then click To download.

How to Listen to Apple Music Offline on Desktop App
To download an Apple Music album for offline listening, navigate to the album in the Music app. You must have an internet connection at this point. On the far right of the screen, you will see an arrow pointing down. Click it to start downloading the entire album.
Another method to begin the download process is to click on the three-dot menu to the right of the down arrow. From the drop-down menu, select To download.
You will now see download progress bars showing how long you have to wait.
When downloads are complete, the down arrow will change to a checkmark and each song will have a down arrow next to it.
To view your downloaded music, go to the Music folder on your computer. You will now see an Apple Music subfolder. There you will find your newly downloaded music.
If you no longer want to listen to the music, you can delete the downloads by returning to the Music app. Then click on the three-dot button and select Delete Download from the menu.
If you don’t want to download the whole album, but only certain songs, you can instead hover over the song and click the download button that appears (the down arrow).
How to Listen to Apple Music Offline on Mobile App
If you are going to travel where there is no internet connection, you will most likely need to download the music to your cellphone or iPad. Downloading Apple Music for offline listening is more or less the same on the Music mobile app. You just need to make sure that you have enough space on your device for the files.
Navigate to the album you want to listen to offline and tap the three-dot icon. To select To download.
You will now see a download progress bar for each song.
When the download is complete, you’ll see a check mark at the top of the screen and arrows pointing down next to each song.
To find your music, go to Library tab and press Uploaded.
If you look at the bottom of the next page, you will find the album under Recently uploaded.
To delete the album later, tap the three-dot menu again and select Eliminate. It will ask you if you want to delete the downloads. Tap the option and the music will be deleted.
The music will be deleted from your computer. You can only listen to downloaded Apple Music files if you are a paid subscriber.
