Spotify, the music streaming service, also lets you download songs. So you can listen to these songs without internet connection.
Downloaded songs are not playing offline for some on Spotify
According to reports, even with premium Spotify subscription, it does not allow some users to listen to the songs or podcasts they downloaded. All they get is a perpetual loading screen.
My downloaded music is not playing, I am a premium subscriber. -I uninstalled and reinstalled the app -Downloaded again in “very high” quality -Reset my phone. I can stream without problem but as soon as I download it the song will not play. About 10% of my downloaded music doesn’t have this problem. Has anyone else had this problem.
I can’t find or listen to downloaded podcasts without an active data connection. When offline, downloaded podcast pages get stuck in a loading screen loop. The same happens with the Your Episodes playlist where the downloaded episodes are stored. I click on one of these playlists to find a downloaded episode and see a spinning wheel followed by an offline message.
This problem would affect almost the entire user playlist. However, in some cases around 10% of their downloaded songs could still be played normally.
A workaround that can alleviate the problem
Some users are also reporting a workaround that might help. Basically if you have set the audio quality to “very high” you can try lowering it to “high” or “normal”.
The above gives rise to suspicion that the issue on Spotify offline mode is related to the audio quality of the songs. But, this is something that has not yet been confirmed.
If you are one of the users affected by the problem, for now you will have to settle for reducing the audio quality of your downloaded songs, until an official solution arrives.
