THEY say revenge is best served cold, but some celebs have found some pretty “creative” ways to get back at their ex when things go wrong.
Just this week, Harry Styles’ girlfriend Olivia Wilde reportedly felt “humiliated” after being cruelly served with custody papers on stage.
The actress, who has two children with Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis, looked troubled as she opened the envelope marked ‘Personal and Confidential’ in front of hundreds of fans.
While an insider close to Jason said he had no idea the papers would be served that way and had no idea he had any idea how they would be delivered, there there have been times when stars have intentionally done something to make their feelings known.
Here, we take a look at some of the ways celebrities have taken very public “digs” after a breakup…
Racking up a million pound credit card bill
Before marrying Rachel Weisz in 2011, James Bond actor Daniel Craig was engaged to Hollywood producer Satsuki Mitchell.
The couple dated for seven years before splitting in 2010 after he reportedly left her for his wife, whom he married six months later.
Understandably upset, Perez Hilton reported that Satsuki hit Craig where it hurt financially – by allegedly racking up $1 million on his credit card.
After the split, her father Christopher told the Mail: “Her sudden marriage came out of nowhere.
“We heard about it like everyone else, reading the newspapers. She doesn’t mention her name anymore and scolds me if I do.”
When Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley – who was married to Avril Lavigne between 2006 and 2009 – chose to dress up as a singer for Halloween, it sparked a huge backlash.
Along with his now-wife Ari Cooper, Deryck dressed up as the singer and his then-stepson Nickleback singer Chad Kroeger.
While it’s unclear if Avril found it funny, overall it didn’t seem to go particularly well.
Chad tweeted in response, “We were going to dress like you guys this year but all the parties had celebrity themes.”
bizarre video vendetta
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian officially split in 2021 and have both been seeing other people – but it seems the rapper isn’t thrilled with Kim’s choice of boyfriend.
In a bizarre animated video for his song Eazy, he rapped about his new beau Pete Davidson, saying, “God saved me from the crash, just so I could beat Pete Davidson’s a**. “
As the lyrics are spoken, the animation showed a cartoon version of Pete being buried alive by Kanye.
Kim has repeatedly asked Kanye to keep their personal affairs private, but it seems those pleas fell on deaf ears.
Hire a lookalike
Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears were the ultimate musical couple when they met between 1999 and 2002 after they first met as pre-teens on The Mickey Mouse Club.
However, after their split, Justin seemed to make quite a statement when he hired a Britney lookalike for his Cry Me A River music video.
The famous 2002 video shows Justin catching a girl who looked like Britney “cheating” on him.
Years later, Britney told Rolling Stone, “He called me [and said] “And by the way, you’re in a video coming out. Do not worry. It does not matter.’
“The record company called and said, ‘If you want to change that, you can.’ I had the power to say no to the video, but I didn’t, because I was like, “Hey, this is your video.”
“I hadn’t seen it. Then it came out, and I was like, ‘I should have said no to that shit!'”
Set the house on fire
TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was known for her incredible musical talent, before she tragically died in a car accident in 2002.
However, in 1994, it was her boyfriend Andre Rison’s house fire that caught her attention.
After a nasty argument, rumored over sneakers, Lopes set fire to a pair of his shoes in the bath, then walked out and smashed the windshields of two of his sports cars.
After turning herself in to authorities, she was charged with arson and released on $75,000 bond.
She entered rehab for alcohol abuse and received five years probation and a $10,000 fine.
Despite all of this, the couple got together and planned to get married before Lisa died.
Kiss the sex
Despite recently blasting ex Kim, it seems Kanye doesn’t take kindly when the boot is on the other foot.
He was left furious when his ex Amber Rose – who he dated between 2008 and 2010 – claimed to reveal a bit more about their sex life than he would have liked.
After being caught up in a separate Twitter spat in 2016, Amber tweeted, “Awww @kanyewest are you mad I’m not here to play in your ass anymore?”
Kanye responded, writing, “Exes can be mad but just know I never let them play with my a**…I don’t do that…I stay away from this area all together.”
Whether all of these reactions were harmless pranks or malicious attempts at sabotage, all is fair in love and war, as they say.
